Melissa Borowicz Betrus has long had a passion for the written word and began her own career as a writer and poet when she finally listened to her mom who was always telling her, “Write it down.” Eventually she wrote her way to a bachelor’s degree in English and a master’s degree in creative writing. Her work first appeared in print when she worked in the newspaper business and again through publication in various anthologies. Bad Day Go Away is her first children’s book.

Now a mom to two children of her own, Melissa wrote Bad Day Go Away after a particularly rough morning. It seemed both incredible, and also daunting, that an entire day stretched before her and her children and yet its path had already been determined. She remembers taking some deep breaths, then turning to her kids and saying, “We need to change this day.” It occurred to her then that, as hard as it can be, we do have the power to let our emotions take over and then reign them back in so each day can indeed become what we want it to be.
